Ekta Yatra

Ekta Yatra ended today officially. Over past few days, there has bee so much talk around the Ekta Yatra. Most of the talk was aimed at making this yatra look political in nature. Congress and MSM were eager to attack BJP for conducting this yatra to gain political mileage.

Well, was this the case? The truth is, ever since BJP announced the yatra, it has been stating that the prupose of yatra was to send a strong signal to sepratists who had recently hoisted pakistani flag in lal chowk. BJP has been reitrating that other parties should join hands with it in asserting that J and  K is integral part of India.

As we know, BJP is protrayed as extreme right wing party and everybody is aware of how MSM treats anything that is Hindu/Hindutva/Safforn.

There was a perfect opportunity for all political parties to unite and send a strong signal to separatists and pakistan that J and K is integral part of India and all parties are united in this cause, irrespective of their ideological differences.

An event that could have been a rare symbol of unity among political parties, an event that could have instilled confidence in pro India citizens of J and K, an event that could have been a slap on the face of separatists who openly hoist pakistani flag, was turned into a political battle.

It is not BJP which politicized the yatra, it was Congress, Omar Abdullah and MSM that made it so.

Omar should have taken the responsibility to protect the activists who were there to hoist national tricolor at lal chowk. Instead he chose to surrender to the sepratists threats.

Both Central government and J and K State government were of the opinion that the "much hard earned peace" after a violent summer would be disturbed by hoisting the tricolor by BJP. But can we call such peace a peace at all which is lost due to hoisting tricolor? Is it really a peace when sepratists are having free run?

No. Peace in J and K is myth. This sort of peace that is used by separatists to regroup and challenge the authority of India is no peace. Let us not be fooled into beleiving that separtists are at peace now. They never were and will never be.

Many pseudo-secularists have questioned the very purpose of yatra at this point of time. Well,  is not the purpose clearly stated by BJP? Why do these so called secularists and intellectuals forget the threat issued by Malik?

PM Manmohan singh has again shown what a coward government we have at the center.

We aspire to be counted as super power, but our government is afraid of bunch of sepratists unleashing violence that they are ready to stop tricolor hoisting.

If maoists issue threat tomorrow, will PM stop hoisting flag at Lal Kila? I wont be surprised if the present government surrenders to such threats from anti india forces.

Keeping three of the top leaders of main opposition party under arrest during republic day is a national shame, just for the reason that they wanted to hoist national flag at historic lal chowk.

I was watching the debate yesterday on MSM. Arnab asked Kiron Kher what does the nation gain from this yatra? That was such a dumb question. Installing the national pride and telling sepratists that J and K is integral part of India is what nation gains. Any citizen with a bit of common sense and knowledge of J and K knows this answer. But not our "highly intellectual" MSM journalists.

When the talk was aobut Ekta Yatra, Subhashini from Congress indulged in her tirade against RSS and Aseemanand. Hello! The debate is about Ekta Yatra and not RSS.

Another dumb statement by her was regarding activists comming from different states to hoist national flag.Is she suggesting that we need prior permission to enter J and K to hoist the flag? If J and K is part of India, why does it bother Congress if activists are comming from Karnataka or Bengal or Gujrat. Afterall they are all comming together to hoist national flag at a place where sepratists hoist pakistani flag.

Madhu Kishor kept on ranting about failure of Omar Abdullah. I failed to understand how does the failure of Omar be a parameter to judge if we can hoist our tricolor at lal chowk??

Since it was BJP that attempted to hoist the flag, congress and MSM had objections. This whole event has exposed the weakness of our government. We should not harbour plans to be a super power if we can not assert ourselves on the territory we so much claim to be integral part of India. By not allowing BJP activists to hoist national flag at lal chowk, we have symbolically surrendered to the sepratists and it will no doubt boost confidence among many anti national groups.

It pains me to even imagine that we have to endure this weak spineless government for few more years.
